How To Furnish Your Home For Autumn March 7, 2022 – Posted in: Design, Furniture – Tags: , ,

Autumn is one of the most magical times of the year because there is always so much to look forward to. From Halloween, to Bonfire Night, to Christmas, to New Years, there is just non-stop excitement!

In terms of the Autumn aesthetic, there is so much you can do with your interior design to make it reflect the current season and get ready for the lead up to Christmas. The colour palette and the frosty mornings make for such beautiful landscapes, so it’s nice to be able to incorporate these features into the decor and styling of your home.

In this article, we will go over some top tips and trends for getting your home in the Autumn mood.

Say Hello To A Hardwood Texture Fest

Firstly, let’s talk about the materials and textures that you can bring into your home this Fall. When we think of Autumn, we often think of nature and the way it changes during this season; the trees become gradually more bare, whilst the leaves change from green to yellow to orange. This beautiful transition can be replicated in the way you choose to furnish your house; that’s why we love wooden furniture for this time of year.

As well as being a practical and sturdy material, there is something comforting about wooden furniture; it seems to bring a touch of Scandinavian design into the home, embracing the beauty of nature and making your interior space feel warm and cosy.

Turn To The Darker Side

Of course, every season has an array of beautiful colours they we can replicate in the home, but Autumn surely has the most captivating colour palette. With a spectrum of burnt oranges, earthy browns and crimson reds, you have such an incredible range to choose from for your interior design.

At this time of year, we want our homes to feel comfy and warm and one of the best ways to make a room feel cosy is to include dark, rich tones of wine reds, emerald greens and mahogany. Darker colours tend to make spaces feel smaller, but if you want a space to feel more intimate, going for darker hues will certainly achieve the desired effect. To change the colour palette of your living room, you might consider re-painting, adding some new accessories such as mirrors & sideboards, or using soft furnishings to complete the look.

Snuggle Up With A Loungeseat

There is no time of year more romantic than Autumn & Winter; there is something about settling in for the night, shutting out the cold and curling up on the sofa to watch a movie with your other half. As the days get shorter and colder, we tend to favour staying in for a dinner date than facing the unpredictable English weather; this is why it is so important to make your home as lovely as possible in the coming months, because it’s the season of hibernation! In the Summer, you spend more time out in the sunshine than in your home, so it makes sense to re-decorate and vamp up your interiors for the Autumn/Winter period.

Going back to the romantic nature of Autumn, why not add a loungeseat into your interior design? A Loungeseat can be a 2 seater sofa or a large armchair and these designs are the perfect place to have a snuggle with your loved ones. Although we adore a corner group sofa, the colder weather calls for some much needed cuddling.

Imagine strolling through the park with your other half, wrapped up in oversized coats, woolly hats and knit scarves and then returning home to a hot chocolate and a cuddle in your favourite snuggler chair…

Although we have already mentioned the importance of comfy sofas in the Autumn time, there are many considerations you may want to think about when choosing the perfect sofa for your home.

To find the perfect sofa for your Autumn-inspired interior design, you may want to think about:

  • The Shape of your sofa; do you want something cosy & intimate like a 2 seater? Or would you prefer a large corner group sofa so that you can have social gatherings around the fire?
  • The Fabric of your sofa; are you craving a dark leather sofa that will give off that classic cosiness? Or maybe you would prefer a fabric sofa that you could fall asleep on whilst watching a Disney movie with the kids?
  • The Colour of your sofa; although the Autumn aesthetic calls for darker colours, is that a colour you would like all year round? Or maybe you would prefer something lighter and brighter to make your living room seem lighter?

Once you have figured out the shape, fabric and colour of your sofa, you can start to pick out which design would best suit your home.
